STREET CHIC,THROUGH A NEW LENS | 2 0 1 5
A worn basketball found deflated in a parking lot, transformed into a powerful statement jewelry piece. The skin or ‘hide’ of the basketball has many similar qualities to leather, making it an ideal material choice for breaking boundaries in the world of accessories. The basketball skin is adorned with hand stitched crystals, silver metalwork, and hundreds of welded straight pins. The combination of found, discarded material with fine crystal embellishement creates an exciting juxtaposition, both visually and conceptually.
This choker marks the beginning of a series of jeweled statement pieces, all made with the remaining five rubber panels of the found basketball. These pieces will include chokers of varying widths, as well as wrist cuffs.
